Tomorrow: two big protests in Israel against the massacre in Gaza

The killing in Gaza continues. Hundreds of Palestinians have been killed, thousands injured, air-strikes have caused utter devastation and entire families are left homeless. Civilians in the south of Israel are being held captive by a government which lies to them and abuses them. Destruction and death in Gaza will not ensure their future, but rather lead to more violence and killings.

Tomorrow (Saturday, January 3, 2009) will be held two big protests in Israel, by a coalition of peace forces and the Communist Party of Israel and his front Hadash in Tel-Aviv; and in Sakhnin by the High Committee of Arab-Palestinian Citizens in Israel, both of them against the killing in Gaza. Together we will call out: Stop the Killing! No to the Siege! Yes to life for both peoples! In these dark days, let us stick to our message: Jews and Arabs refuse to be enemies! Our demand: A full truce and the lifting of the siege on Gaza NOW!

Israel has gone to great lengths to ensure that the world does not know the extent of its crimes against humanity inside of Gaza. In Israel itself, there are protests against this war on a captive people. Thousands have gathered to protest daily in Tel Aviv, West Jerusalem, Haifa, Nazaret, Um el-Fahem, Tira, Taybe and other cities. Citizens called up as reservists to prepare for a possible land assault on Gaza have refused service, risking jail. None of this is being reported in the American and European corporate media, which is largely "cheerleading" the Israeli attack, primarily by “even-handedly” reporting on the attacks in Gaza and the rockets launched by Hamas into Israel.

As Dov Khenin, an Israeli Knesset member from Hadash, and a leading Communist Party member, stated in an interview with Amy Goodman on Democracy Now!, “Well, the most important thing to realize is that there is an opposition inside Israel to the war and to everything going on around right now in Gaza. This position is a Jewish-Arab one. On Saturday night, we had a demonstration in Tel Aviv of 2,000 young people, mainly Jews, and there are a lot of demonstrations all over Israel of Jews and Arabs opposing the war policy of the current government. This opposition is growing steadily. It is very important to know this and to understand that there are other voices in Israeli society who (oppose) a war, and they believe there is a better alternative for Israelis and Palestinians alike.”

Yesterday, a group of Tel Aviv poets held a poetry-reading vigil protesting the Gaza operation in front of the luxury Akirov Towers, where Defense Minister Ehud Barak (and head of the Labor Party) has an apartment. Twenty young poets read anti-war works over a loudspeaker, calling it "a protest against the destruction Ehud Barak is wreaking on the residents of the south while he's sleeping in a comfortable bed on the 31st floor." Ibtisam Marahna, number 12 on the Meretz Knesset list, spoke at the protest, and announced her resignation from Meretz because of its support for the war.

Ten human rights organizations yesterday called on Defense Minister Ehud Barak to urgently renew an unlimited supply of fuel to the Gaza Strip. The groups, including B'Tselem, Gisha and the Association of Civil Rights in Israel, wrote that the massive destruction of infrastructure following the Israeli action will increase the need for fuel to operate "humanitarian equipment such as water pumps, sewage and the health system." The groups wrote that since Israel has been constantly reducing the fuel supply to the Strip since October 2007, a shortage should have been expected following the military action.

MK Mohammad Barakeh (Hadash) yesterday demanded from Prime Minister Ehud Olmert that the Shin Bet security service stop questioning Arab political and leftists activists following protests over the Gaza operation. "If the defense establishment is worried about a wave of protests against the crime in Gaza, it is better to stop the crime and not persecute the political leadership and activists in the Arab sector," Barakeh said.

Communist Party Usa Denounces Gaza Invasion

January 4, 2009

The Communist Party of the USA expresses its outrage at Israel's invasion of Gaza, carried out in defiance of world public opinion.

The entry of ground troops into Gaza at a time when the United Nations and many others were working toward a cease-fire and a return to negotiations is arrogant and irresponsible. It will cause many more deaths and injuries and untold destruction of the essential infrastructure of a community already devastated by economic blockade. It is an illegal action and a major threat to regional and world peace, and carries a grave danger of setting off a wider war.

The Israeli government justifies the invasion as necessary to stop Hamas rocket attacks. Although we condemn those attacks, we believe that by its actions Israel is pursuing more far-reaching aims in the region than stated by its representatives. The attacks by Hamas could be quickly ended in the context of a cease-fire.

Launching a ground offensive into Gaza is also designed to box in the Obama administration and new Congress and prevent them from changing US policy vis-Ă -vis this conflict.

We repudiate the outrageous speech made by President Bush yesterday, which gave a green light to a new Israeli escalation of the conflict. With this act, Bush leaves an even uglier legacy to our country and the world.

We also strongly condemn the attempt by the US delegation to the UN to block the Security Council from taking action to stop the invasion.

We repeat our call for an immediate cease-fire to be strictly monitored by the UN and other international organizations. It should include the complete withdrawal of Israeli troops as well as an end to the bombing of Gaza and a cessation of the rocket attacks into Israel.

It is urgent that Gaza be open immediately to receive food, medicine and other humanitarian aid, and that Israel end its economic blockade.

There is no military solution to the Palestine-Israel conflict. We call for an immediate return to negotiations for a peaceful solution based on the two-state concept, which will address the national aspirations of the Palestinian people as well as the security interests of both the Palestinian and Israeli peoples.

We hope that as soon as President Obama takes office, he will pursue a new policy in the Middle East that contributes to peace, justice and stability in that region.

Finally, we urge the American people to add their voices to the millions worldwide protesting the invasion and calling for a cease-fire on both sides and for a just peace.

National Committee, Communist Party of the Usa,

CP of Israel, Over 150,000 protest Gaza Deadly Military Operation [En., Sp., Fr.]

Israel: Over 150,000 protest Gaza deadly military operation

Over 150,000 people demonstrated yesterday (Saturday, January 3, 2009) in Israel against Operation Cast Lead: in the northern Arab town of Sakhnin and in Tel-Aviv. The demonstration in Sakhnin was, by far, the biggest such protest in Israel. According to organizers, it was the largest protest held by the Arab-Palestinian in Israel in many years.

Marchers held Palestinian flags and pictures of children said to have been killed during the IDF operation. The protest opened with a minute of silence, in memory of Palestinians killed in Gaza since the operation began.

The event was attended by several Arab Knesset members including Muhammad Barakeh and Hanna Zweid (Hadash, Democratic Front for Peace and Equality, Communist Party of Israel). Also, dozen of thousands of peace activists arrived at Rabin Square in Tel Aviv Saturday night to protest against the military operation. The protesters marching in the streets and carrying red flags and banners flags reading "Stop the fire" and "Children in Gaza and Sderot wish to live." Knesset members Dov Khenin and Muhammad Barakeh (Hadash) were among the political figures who attended the rally. "I came here to demonstrate along with thousands of citizens in Tel Aviv and all across the country, Jews and Arabs alike, who are calling to stop this war, which is a disaster. It hasn't solved the security problems in the south, and nothing good will come out of it," told Khenin. "We came here to demand an end to the war, an agreement on a ceasefire, the opening of the border crossings and a prisoner exchange deal," he said. "This will be the outcome anyway, and no unnecessary blood should be spilled in the meantime."

The demonstrators chanted "Defense Minister Barak, how many children have you murdered today?" Hundreds of right-wing activists who demonstrated opposite the leftists in support of the IDF's ground incursion in Gaza chanted "You are the cancer of this country".

During the last week, and across the country, 471 Arabs and Jews have been arrested in protests against the deadly Israeli operation in Gaza, 149 of those minors.

Mr. Ambassador :

We are outraged at the latest criminal attacks that your zionist state has unleashed upon occupied Palestine, starting last December 27, particularly the use of warplanes and missiles to obliterate Palestinian government and civic centers, as well as civilian homes, in the Gaza Strip. The resulting massacre of almost 400 Palestinians, and the wounding of over 1,700 others --- mostly civilians --- adds more victims to the gruesome record of Israel’s fascist extermination of Palestinians.

Your government’s latest call for United Nations intervention to help secure Israel against the Hamas rule in the Gaza Strip is patently hypocritical, given Israel’s consistent disregard for all United Nations resolutions upholding Palestinian national and territorial rights. The holocaust and diaspora that zionism caused upon the Palestinian people since 1948 are at the root of the constant insecurity of your state. Racist genocide, whether of the nazi variety against Jews during WW-II, or of the zionist variety against the Palestinians since 1948, can never be vindicated. Your use of F-16s and tanks against crude projectiles and stone throwers can never be justified.

The continued occupation and walling-in of Palestinian communities can never give your zionist state any security. Peace cannot be attained by the policy of preventing the return of Palestinians from diaspora, and of blocking international assistance for the beleaguered people in the Gaza Strip. Neither can peace be secured with Israel’s maintaining the role as the USA’s gendarme in the Arab region. The perpetuation of myths about a superior chosen race can never lead to a culture of peace and understanding.

The decades of your divide-and-rule tactics --- intrigues to pit Palestinians against Palestinians, and Lebanese against Lebanese --- have not led to stability for your occupation, but only to the rise of factions espousing islamic fundamentalism (which is the other extreme of your own zionism). One and a half years of your inhuman blockade and siege of the Gaza Strip has not cowed Palestinian resistance, but has only led to more seething anger and the sidelining of the forces of moderation among the Palestinians.

Israel’s latest pogrom in the Gaza Strip, whether designed as a platform to secure votes for your current administration in your forthcoming elections, or as a way to fasten support from the incoming US administration, will never break the Palestinian resistance. The main lesson of the past 6 decades since Al Nakba is that injustice cannot be legitimated with further injustice. Land grabbing and occupation, massacres and the uprooting of people, and the continued policies of genocidal blockades and state terrorism, can never bring peace to your state and your region.

We demand an immediate end to your genocidal attacks on the Gaza Strip, at the same time that we renew our call for sanctions against your state.

Our Party will maintain its firm solidarity with the Palestinian resistance against zionist aggressions, and will continue to support all progressive, anti-imperialist and communist forces in Israel who are also struggling for the enforcement of all relevant UN Resolutions on Palestine --- primarily the establishment of an independent and secular Palestinian state with East Jerusalem (Al Quds) as its capital, a sovereign Palestinian state with secure borders and at peace with all her neighbors.

Very sincerely,

Pedro P. Baguisa

General Secretary, PKP-1930

KKE’s Rallies Against Israel Aggression

The Communist Party of Greece (KKE) and its youth wing KNE organised an anti-war rally in Athens on Sunday in solidarity for the Palestinian people that heightened with a protest march outside the Israeli embassy, where slogans were shouted against Israel and two Israeli flags were burnt.

The march started from the War Museum in Vassilis Sophias avenue and then headed for the U.S. embassy, where the demonstrators stayed for a while and burnt an American flag.

Earlier, at the gathering at the War Museum, the Ambassador of Palestine to Greece Samir Abu Ghazalah and the member of KKE's Central Committee political bureau Dimitris Koutsoumpas stressed the Palestinian demand for the creation of an independent Palestinian state with its capital based in Eastern Jerusalem.

Ghazalah expressed his gratitude for the Greek people's solidarity for the Palestinians and said that "the only thing that we are asking for is our freedom and our independence."

Koutsoumpas said that we are here to express the indignation of the Greek people against Israeli occupation, the plans of the U.S. and the responsibilities of the European Union, of the Greek government and of other political forces in our country that are not proposing the creation of an independent Palestinian state in the territory of 1967, with Eastern Jerusalem as its capital.

A similar rally was also held in Thessaloniki, Macedonia, on the same day.

CP of Malta, On the Israeli Aggression

Communist Party of Malta, Monday, January 05, 2009

On the Israeli Aggression

The Communist Party of Malta without any reservations condemns the bombings of Gaza by the Israeli Armed Forces. Resulting in 300 innocent people were killed and over 600 persons injured. This is the latest outrage committed by the Israeli government, following a series of assassination of Palestinian political leaders and a systematic blockade of Gaza depriving the civil population of medicine and food in a criminal attempt to make them submit to the will of Israel, and thus deny their inalienable rights. to a Palestinian state.

Today’s acts of genocide, against the Palestinians follow in the tradition of the massacre of Deir Yassin of 1948 where Zionist terrorists led by Menachem Begin massacred 300 Palestinians, and the outrages of Sabra and Chatila refugee camps during the 1980’s Zionist war against Lebanon. Plus other criminal acts of state terrorism committed by the Israeli state.

The State of Israel has a record of not abiding by UN resolutions. Where punitive measures where taken against other states for such misdemeanours, none was ever taken against the Jewish state.

The Communist Party of Malta unequivocally calls on the Government of Malta to denounce and condemn these Israeli aggressions and demand that Israel stops and respect the cease fire

Working Group: Appeal of solidarity with the Palestinian People

We, communist and workers parties from all parts of the world, strongly condemn the repeated murderous air strikes by the Israeli air force on Gaza which resulted in the killing of over 340 Palestinians. By these brutal attacks and other crimes by the armed forces, the government of Israel try to achieve what was impossible by imposing the wall, the siege and blockade: to break the resistance of the Palestinian people.

The policy of genocide and state terrorism by the Israeli government, supported and endorsed by the powerful imperialist forces in the USA and EU and accepted by some Arab reactionary governments is a new provocation against the peoples and the worldwide solidarity movement.

We call on the workers, women, youth and other sectors, all anti-imperialist and peace loving forces to mobilize against the criminal attacks and policy by the Israeli government, to demand immediate stop and sanctions against Israel. To develop immediate solidarity actions and humanitarian support for the Palestinian people.

Our parties express firm solidarity with the resistance against the aggressions, with the progressive, anti-imperialist and communist forces in Palestine and Israel, with all those fighting for the establishment of an independent State of Palestine within the borders of 1967 with East Jerusalem as its capital. Free and independent Palestine!

Tudeh Party of Iran, Statement on Gaza

Tudeh Party of Iran, Wednesday, December 31, 2008

http://www.tudehpartyiran.org/english.htm , mailto:mardom@tudehpartyiran.org

Statement of the Central Committee of the

Tudeh Party of Iran:

“We strongly condemn the massacre of the innocent people of Palestine in Gaza!”

With the large-scale and bloody military strike of the Israeli army against Gaza strip on Saturday Dec 27th, once again Palestine is burning in the flames of war.

As reported by world news agencies, this is the largest military attack of Israel on the Gaza strip in recent years. During the unexpected air assault of the fighter jets of Israel’s air force, in addition to military and state targets, residential areas, public libraries, the Islamic University of Gaza and mosques were bombarded too. Based on the latest estimates the number of those killed and injured in these criminal attacks, amongst them many children and civilians, has surpassed one thousand people. The wide dimensions of this bloody and inhumane operation have deeply wounded the public sentiments of the world, especially in the Middle East and in Islamic countries. Most countries of the world, with the exception of the US Administration, have strongly condemned this criminal and purposeful action of Israeli government.

It is clear that these attacks were planned weeks ago in full coordination with US imperialism, under the leadership of reactionary George Bush’s government.

One of the aims of this aggression is to undermine the struggle of the Palestinian people and to impose a new atmosphere in the Middle East just before the end of the presidency of George Bush and ultra reactionary forces in the US, at the end of eight years of office.

On the other hand, the military offensive of the aggressive Israeli army started at a time that the country is at the threshold of an important parliamentary election.

Adoption of tough, inhumane and militaristic policies by the main candidates of the ruling coalition for the post of Prime Minister, i.e. Tzipi Livni, Foreign Affairs Minister, and Ehud Barak, Minister of Defence, should be seen as an election manoeuvre by them to prove their militaristic and violent credentials as compared to their competitor, Benjamin Netanyahu, the candidate of the ultra right forces from the Likud party.

Israel’s Minister of Defence has threatened that in the coming days these operations might be expanded. According to reports in the world media in recent days, tank and armoured units of Israeli’s army have stationed along the borders of Gaza with Israel, all set to invade and occupy Gaza.

The Tudeh Party of Iran, together with all the progressive and peace-loving forces of the world, is also concerned that these military conflicts may spread into the other countries of the region. We believe that under the current circumstances of the deepening financial crisis and unprecedented economic recession, imperialism and reactionary forces of the world are looking for an opportunity to exploit militarism and war in order to divert public opinion and overcome the consequences of the current crisis. Continuation and expansion of conflicts in the Gaza Strip could spread the war to the neighboring countries, and even Iran, which would help to revive the booming of the military industrial complex of imperialist countries.

The Tudeh Party of Iran strongly condemns the aggressive policies of the Israeli government and calls for an immediate cessation of all military actions by both sides. We advocate an immediate cease-fire and a permanent peace under the auspices of the United Nations.

The Tudeh Party of Iran rejects the heinous voice of the reactionary forces in the region for spreading war and militarism who in recent days are trying to take advantage of the current tense conditions to promote their own agenda. The Palestine issue does not have a military solution. Under war and blockade conditions, it is only the reactionary forces of the region that would gain power and would justify their policies in line with the interests of imperialism.

The Tudeh Party of Iran expresses its earnest solidarity with popular and progressive forces of Palestine. We believe that the permanent, viable solution to the Palestine issue could only be achieved by respecting the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people based on the resolutions of the UN regarding full withdrawal of Israel from the occupied territories, complete halt to the building of Jewish settlements in the West Bank, and the establishment of an independent state of Palestine within the pre-June 1967 war boarders, with East Jerusalem as its capital city.

Stop The Aggression On Gaza

League of Yugoslav Communist Youth-SKOJ most severely condemn criminal and illegal aggression of the Israeli government against the Palestinian peoples carried out through crimes against the civilian population.

These Middle Eastern developments are a direct consequence of the continued Israeli occupation of Palestine and of criminal aggression on Gaza. Constant violations of every possible humanitarian law and total lack of any glimpse of a permanent and just political solution clearly implies that aggressive policies of Israel are a clear and present danger to peace and security in the Middle East. It is international communityĘĽs, especially UNĘĽs, duty to take efficient measures to halt expansionistic policies of Israel.

This aggression and occupation would not be possible without the unconditional support of imperialistic United States of America to the Zionists in Israeli government. Under their protection, Israel has become a bastion of imperialism in the Middle East.

Israeli military action is of no benefit to the peoples of the Middle East but only to the imperialistic circles led by the USA and their final goal of domination of the region.

Given the rights of every nation to fight with every means necessary for their national liberation and self-determination, we give our full-hearted support to the fight of Palestinian people for liberation and to the Palestinian nation in defending their independence, sovereignty and territorial integrity.

SKOJ are for just, complete and permanent solution.

And therefore we demand:

A complete withdrawal of Israeli armed forces from Palestinian territories; recognition of the Palestinian right to self-determination including their right to their own sovereign country and independence. We also call for an immediate stop to all military operations against Gaza. This is the only way - by total respect and recognition of sovereignty and territorial integrity of ALL Middle Eastern states and nations - to achieve conditions for a complete and permanent solution and a truly just peace.

Syrian CP, Joint Statement: All efforts to stop the massacre against Palestinian people

All efforts to stop the massacre against Palestinian people

A statement by Communist Parties and leftist movements in the Arab World

On Saturday 27 of December 2008 Israeli army started a savage military operation against the people of Gazza Strip. Israeli military fighters launched barbarian attacks against the mankind and the infrastructure in the Strip. The total victims are hundreds of martyrs and wounded.

Gazza still bleeding, while the simplest means of the first aid are not available, because of the oppressive blockade, which was dictated to the strip since several weeks, prevented and still preventing the arrival of rescuing remedies, caused a deficit of food, which put more than million people under the threat of hunger.

The new barbarous Israeli aggression is a continuation of politics, which were followed by Israel since its extorter entity was created on 1948. These politics of aggressive wars were addressed against Arab nation, and against Palestinian people, which was counted as guilty, because it requested his right of unrestricted and honorable life, and because it insists to create its independent national Palestinian state, and his right in return to his land, this right which was supported by all human laws and codes.

The last aggression is coming with Arabic and international suspicious silence, and with the support of USA. This fact imposes upon Arab nation to practice all kinds and forms of pressure on their governments to stop this aggression against Gazza, to put an end to the blockade and to open the passageways.

At this tragic moment, the national task requires finishing the Palestinian  “Palestinian self “ splitting, immediately uniting powers of Palestinian people in West Bank and Gazza Strip and repointing the guns to Israeli enemy.

We call the Palestinian authorities to stop the negotiations and the absurd communications with Israel till finishing its barbarian aggression and its unjust blockade against Gazza Strip, and we appeal also all Arabic nations to exercise pressures upon the Arabic governments, which established public and secret diplomatic and economic relations with Israel, to cut all types of these relations, which causes big damages to the Palestinian matter.

We also call International Security Council to hold an immediate meeting to stop this aggression.

We appeal international organizations, the democratic and human powers which represent the international public opinion, the communist and workers parties and all organizations of the World Left Powers to condemn this aggression, and to start all kinds of initiatives, which help stopping it.

The resistance of Gazza and Palestinian people is stronger than the aggression, which will be defeated as well as it was defeated in Lebanon on 2006.

Glory and eternity to Palestinian martyrs.

CP of Bohemia and Moravia, On the Massacres Against Palestinian People in the Gaza Strip

Communist Party of Bohemia and Moravia,Wednesday, December 31, 2008

http://www.kscm.cz , mailto:leftnews@kscm.cz

The Press Statement of Jiri Mastalka, Vice-Chairman of the CPBM’s CC,

On the Massacres Against Palestinian People in the Gaza Strip

In the time when the world still celebrated the Christmas Feast, Israel began bushwhacking a new military cowardly campaign against the armless Palestinian civil people on Gaza, using modern armament including missiles, more than 300 innocent people being killed and another 1000 being injured up to today. The massacre and the war crimes are to be only opening for a larger attack against people, who, already for a longer time, have been subject to a hard blockade, which results in lack of basic foods, medicaments and other pharmaceutical materials, fuelling, the electricity power, the water. The attack markedly reminds the military aggression of Georgia on Caucasus during the Olympic games.

Israel, the occupant, ignores both UN Resolutions 242 and 338, which demand withdrawal of occupation troops from the occupied territories since 1967, continues to build settlements on these territories by confiscation of pieces of land of Arabian owners and by expulsion of them from their homes or by economic pressure on them by barbarian means such as destroying of their crops and water resources or schools. This occupant, who knows very well, that the occupied victim has no army air defence, no heavy military technique nor army as such, uses the fact that the victim uses home-made missiles as the excuse to divert attention away from the main reason of the conflict, which inheres in the occupation, in the state terrorism of Israel, in violation of both international law and Geneva Conventions. There are also, in the background of this new military campaign, pre-election calculations, because all Israeli political parties, except Communists, race each other in the role of hawks, in the time of early election, at the expense of both Palestinian people and peaceful solutions.

Israel would not dare to commit crimes like these if it had not been given the green light from the side of US administration of expired G. Bush, didn’t punt on the EU hypocrisy as well as on the split of Arabian regimes and on the betrayal of many of them.

The Communist Party of Bohemia and Moravia strongly condemns this barbarian attack and calls upon international organisations, the EU; which will be under the presidency of the Czech Republic in the first half of 2009, but also calls upon civic peace movements and democratic forces all around the world to express their solidarity with the Palestinian people, to condemn these war crimes and to demand immediately stopping the massacres of innocent people and to end the Israeli occupation.

CP of Pakistan, Statement on Israeli aggression on Gaza Strip, Palestine

Communist Party of Pakistan, Wednesday, December 31, 2008

http://www.cppak.org/ , mailto:cppak2003@yahoo.com

Communist Party of Pakistan condemns the terror attack, Israel has unleashed on Gaza strip in Palestine. These attacks have claimed the lives of more than 300 citizens, including, innocent women and children, not giving any weight to UN Security Council plea for restraint Israeli defense Minister has threatened to expand and deepen the aerial attacks. The pretext given by Israeli authorities for these attacks is firing rockets by Hamas from its controlled areas. This flimsy stand is to hide the real reason behind these atrocities. The actual objectives are very obvious. First one is to gain maximum in coming parliamentary elections and second extracting maximum from outgoing US administration.

These attacks will definitely increase the anti Israeli and American sentiments in the entire peace living world. This terror campaign is also expected to invite reciprocity from anti American forces further complicating the worlds political scenario. The Israeli aggression with American backing is not going to solve the Palestine problem. The only option available for solving this problem is to return the Palestinian land grabbed by Israel in 1967. This also is the demand contained in UN Security Council resolution No. 242, in return Israel can negotiate peace with its neighbors.

Communist Party of Pakistan appeals to all progressive peace loving forces of the world to do what ever possible to force Israel to bow before world opinion.

Iraqi CP, ICPCondemns the Brutal Massacre Perpetrated by Israeli Forces in Gaza

Iraqi Communist Party, Tuesday, December 30, 2008

Iraqi Communist Party condemns the brutal massacre perpetrated by Israeli forces in Gaza

Israel has committed a horrific massacre in Gaza that claimed the lives of hundreds of martyrs among the Palestinian people. This aggression constitutes another crime committed by the Israeli authorities in violation of international and humanitarian laws and norms. It represents a grave military escalation that reaffirms the fact that the Israel is not serious about reaching a just solution to the Palestinian issue, and that it has been resorting to procrastination and manoeuvring in dealing with all the diplomatic efforts and international mediation in this context, which the Palestinian Authority had responded to and dealt with in a responsible manner.

Our Iraqi Communist Party strongly condemns this barbaric aggression and calls upon the Arab League and the international community to act swiftly to convene a meeting of the UN Security Council and demand that Israel stops immediately its armed operations and lifts the siege on the people of Gaza.

We extend to the families of the martyrs and victims in Gaza, and to the Palestinian Authority and the Palestinian people, our most sincere sympathy and solidarity, reiterating our support for the struggle of the Palestinian people to get rid of the Israeli occupation, attain their just rights and establish their own independent national state. We call on all Palestinian parties to exert efforts to end the state of division and restore national unity through Palestinian national dialogue. It is also essential to unify positions in order to strengthen the Palestinian stance in Arab and international forums, and in dealing with all the diplomatic initiatives and political negotiations aimed at achieving a lasting and just peaceful solution to the Palestinian issue.

CP of Malta, Condemnation of Israeli aggressions

From: Communist Party of Malta, Tuesday, December 30, 2008

mailto:pkmalti@hotmail.co.uk

Condemnation of Israeli Aggressions

CP of Greece, Mass Demonstrations at the U.S and Israeli embassies

Aleka Papariga to visit Palestine

Mass Demonstrations at the U.S and Israeli embassies

Aleka Papariga to visit Palestine

On Monday, December 30, KKE held a demonstration in Athens at the embassies of the United States and Israel on Monday denouncing the Israeli aggression and expressing solidarity with the Palestinian people.

KKE Secretary General Aleka Papariga speaking to the press on the occasion of the demonstration said that Europe is literally full of Pontius Pilates. Lets’ not forget that just a couple of days before the European Parliament upgraded the relations with Israel. The time has come now for us to take to the streets, just like then with the war in Yugoslavia," adding that "today, Gaza is being murdered literally and not only. They want to wipe out every hope for the creation of a Palestinian state. And, of course, in no way is Israel in danger from Palestine."

Commenting on the stance of the other political forces she said that “we disagree with the stance of the Greek government; we disagree with the position taken by Mr. Papandreou as president of the Socialist International. It is time that we extend the strongest pressure from the streets of Greece to condemn and isolate the Israeli attack, so that the way will be paved for a substantial resolution of the Palestinian issue”.

Commenting on the role of the US administration she noted that, as it was expected, Mr. Obama refuted the expectations of the Americans that believed he would follow a different policy regarding Palestine.

Demonstrators marched to the U.S. embassy where they burnt two US flags shouting slogans "either with Obama or with Bush the Americans are slaughtering peoples", “terrorists are the US, the EU and Israel and not the peoples”. The march ended in front of the Israeli embassy with thousands of people demonstrating and condemning the massacre in Gaza. Delegations of the Palestinian community of Athens and of the General Union of Palestinan Workers also joined the protest.

Similar rallies and protests were organized by the KKE braches in Thessaloniki and other cities.

Earlier in Monday morning, a delegation of the CC of KKE headed by Aleka Papariga visited the embassy of Palestine where she met with the head of the diplomatic representation of Palestine mr. Abu Ghazaleh conveying the solidarity feelings of the Greek Communists.

Speaking to the journalists afterwards she underscore that the situation demands “clear and not ambiguous positions” about the cease of the Israeli attack, the lift of the blockade on Gaza and the resolution of the Palestinian issue that remains pending for 60 years, Regarding the latter she stressed that the solution must be a real sovereign and in depended Palestinian state and not a “half-state” as the US and others think, a state on the territories of 1967 with East Jerusalem as its capital.

Rejecting the allegations that Palestinians threaten Israel she noted that “Palestinians threaten no state, no people in the area. On the contrary, they are the ones that live years and years in conditions of poverty, blockade and threats because of the occupation. It is the only state under occupation that has not been recognized as such. Even Iraq is been recognized as a state entity”.

Aleka Papariga Heads Delegation to Palestine

A delegation of KKE headed by Aleka Papariga, Secretary General of the CC is set to depart for Palestine on Monday January 5. The delegation will also be composed by Dimitris Koutsoumpas, member of the PB of the CC, Ilias lengeris, member of the CC, Costas Kazakos, MP and Giorgos Toussas, member of the CC and MEP.

Zionist Attack and Barbarity has to be Stopped

30th December 2008

Zionist Israel attacked once again. In Gaza, hundreds of people were killed including children, women, young and old people and hundreds were wounded as well. We condemn Israel's attack spoilt by USA and the collaborationists, which bloodied and reduced to the Middle East to tears, and want the attack to stop immediately.

We know that this villainous attack isn't new. Still a new one has added to the violence policies on the Palestinians going on for years. Israel, who attacked Gaza Stripe with tens of missiles and planes, has been seeking a pretext for its brutality. All peoples in the world are aware that Israel is a villain state and how brutal it is against the Palestinian people.

This massacre is the strategy of Great Middle East Project and Expanded Middle East Project belonging to USA and imperialist forces and their collaborationists. The occupation of Iraq and Afghanistan and the threat to the Iranian people are the parts of this project. The aim is to bloody, to set the peoples fighting and to exploit the richness of the Middle East. Similarly in our country the demands of Kurdish people are ignored and are repressed by war and violence, too.

Any excuse can’t justify the death of hundreds of people. Zionist Israel has to give an account of this attack and to put an end to such attacks at once.

Just after the attack, Prime Minister of Turkey, Recep Tayyip Erdogan explained that he condemned it with false tears. He said “this attitude of Israel has meant to take a swing at the peace in the term which we make such effort for peace.” If so, we ask Prime Minister: “If you condemn this attack you have to break off all diplomatic and military relations with Zionist Israel and primarily USA, who support it, and other imperialist states. You have to cancel bilateral agreements and the bids you have given to them. You mustn’t negotiate with Israel so long as the Palestinian lands must be vacated and the Palestinian people must be guerdoned.”

All these must be put into action. Oral condemnation carries no meaning. You mustn’t talk different before the media and different at the back of the closed doors.

The peoples of the Middle East will live in peace and fraternity only if USA and all imperialists leave the Middle East. USA and NATO bases must be closed in our country and collaborationist policies must be stopped. After carrying out all these action the peace is possible. False tears of Prime Minister and state authorities aren’t convincing and won’t be convincing.

The peoples of Turkey, workers and labourers, the heart, feeling and thoughts of our Party are with the Palestinian people in Gaza. We condemn this villainous attack once more and we wish our deepest condolences to the Middle East Peoples. And we say that blood and tear has to be stopped in the Middle East. Peoples in the world have to get rid of the imperialist yoke and live in peace. Our Party and people will struggle to manage this.

-Killer Israel, get out of Palestine

-Palestinian People are not alone

Working Group, Appeal of Solidarity with the Palestinian People

Working Group, Tuesday, December 30, 2008

http://www.solidnet.org , mailto:info@solidnet.org

Dear Comrades and Friends,

We forward you the following appeal of solidarity with the struggle of Palestinian people and the solidarity movement, issued by the Working Group on 30th December 2008. The appeal is open for further endorsement and support. Please send us your support and any information on solidarity action to info@solidnet.org to be included to the signatories.

We will very much appreciate to circulate it as wide as possible.

Best wishes,

The Solid Net Team

Appeal of Solidarity With the Palestinian People

CP of Israel, Israel: Communist protestors say 'no' to Gaza op

Communist Party of Israel, Monday, December 29, 2008

http://www.maki.org.il/ , mailto:info@maki.org.il

Hundreds demonstrators attended a rally in central Tel Aviv today (Friday, December 26) to protest the expected Israeli military operation to Palestinian rocket attacks from Gaza. The rally was organized by the Coalition against the Gaza Siege and Hadash (Democratic Peace and Equality Front - Communist Party of Israel).

"I suggest that we go the other direction," said Hadash Knesset Member Dov Khenin, a leading member of the Communist Party of Israel. "Our power is our tragedy. One powerful blow will not bring the end. They will respond with rockets and eventually we'll embark on an all-out war. Going in the other direction means reinforcing the lull, securing a ceasefire, and lifting the siege that only serves to unite the population around Hamas."

"A genuine peace process will be engaged in vis-Ă -vis the Palestinian Authority, led by Abbas," he said. "What's tragic here is that it's possible. We just need the desire."

Khenin added that it is "essential to secure a prisoner swap that would include Gilad Shalit." When asked why fewer Israelis object the war in Gaza, he said: "People lost their hope. They realize that what's happening is bad, yet they think there's no other option. Yet we are not destined to be the victim of history."

Another rally participant, the former MK Tamar Gozansky, said: "Two years ago we protested at the same site, before the Second Lebanon War. We were ostracized and referred to as traitors. Yet several months later, all the people who made fun of us carried their own signs to Rabin Square and protested against Olmert's policy. I really hope that we won't have yet another reason to say: 'We told you so.'" In an earlier statement, MK Khenin said: "A comprehensive war in Gaza is dangerous and unnecessary and will put the lives of thousands of Gazans and western Negev residents at risk"." War is not the solution to the Kassam rocket problem," he continued. "There is another way: a real truce agreement. Not just a cease-fire, but also ending the Gaza blockade and easing the extreme suffering of a million-and-a-half people."

Lebanese CP, In solidarity with Palestine and Gaza strip facing the Israeli Massive Aggressions

Lebanese Communist Party, Monday, December 29, 2008

http://www.lcparty.org , mailto:lcparty@gmail.com , mailto:lcparty@lcparty.org

Appeal Issued by the Lebanese Communist Party

In solidarity with Palestine and Gaza strip facing the Israeli Massive Aggressions

Palestine is still under the Aggressive brutal actions of the Israeli enemy whereby hundreds of people today’s morning were either killed or injured. The massive aggressions today in Gaza target the innocent children, women, and civilians in accordance with the American Project in the Middle East.

Gaza massacre is viewed as a new momentum to the famous project entitled: “The New Middle East”. Elements of this project are very evident: introducing more of the expansionist policies whereby free people are deprived of their right to struggle and strive for a better living. Therefore, this is a single episode of the long project including wars and conflicts sponsored by the US.

In fact, the peoples of Gaza, Palestine, Lebanon, Iraq, and the whole Arab region are suffering from the same organized Israeli aggression aiming at cancelling the rightful Palestinian cause.

Therefore, it is our responsibility, as the Lebanese communist party calls all the communist, socialist, democratic parties, social forces, civil societies to act upon this and struggle in the face of the on going aggression. Thus, we call for issuing solidarity to put pressure on the international society to stop Israel’s brutal aggressions immediately, without any conditions. Also we call for solidarity movements and appeals for supporting resistance and freedom of the Palestinian’s people and the everlasting peace.

CPUSA Denounces Israeli Attacks In Gaza

Communist Party, USA,Monday, December 29, 2008

http://www.cpusa.org , mailto:international@cpusa.org

CPUSA Denounces Israeli Attacks In Gaza

The Communist Party of the USA (CPUSA) emphatically denounces the Israeli attacks in Gaza, which have left several hundred dead and unknown numbers wounded. The attacks have been carried out with a total disregard for the safety of children, owmen, old people and other noncombatants and are the latest phase in a brutal campaign to strangle the people of Gaza by blockading them and denying them access to basic necessities. The pretext stated by the Israeli government, namely the resumption of the Hamas rocket attacks, is far out of proportion to the damage being inflicted on innocent people by the IDF bombings. what is more, the Israeli government has telegraphed plans to continue the bombings and follow them up with an invasion by ground forces.

The Communist Party of Israel has suggested that the current Israeli attacks are a demagogic move related to the current electoral campaign in that country, as well as perhaps being intended to present the incoming Obama administration with a fait accompli, making it more difficult for Obama to adopt a new approach to the Israel-Palestine issue. The CPUSA denounces the Bush administration for the verbal and material support it is rendering to the Israeli agression. We demand an immediate end to the Israeli attacks, and we endorse the call of the Communist Party of Israel for sanctions on that country and on its leaders. We call on the incoming Obama administration to make a radical change in US policy on the Israel-Palestine issue, and to pressure the Israeli government to return to honest negotiations toward a two-state solution.

On the Israeli attack against the Gaza Strip

Press Release from the Media Office of

Portuguese Communist Party

Saturday, December 27th, 2008

The Portuguese Communist Party condemns the massacre undertaken by the Israeli Air Force against the population of the Gaza Strip, whose number of victims ascended, in few hours, to around 200 dead and several hundred wounded.

This crime - undertaken as part of an escalation of violence, premeditated by Israel and sustained in the last weeks by several provocative actions, assassination of Palestinian activists and by the humanitarian blockade to Gaza - it is one more example of the continuous Israeli policy of state terrorism against the Palestinian people. If not stopped immediately, this crime can lead to dangerous consequences in the Middle East Region.

PCP deplores the reactions of the so-called "international community" that, sustained on unacceptable positions of "equidistance" and "impartiality", once more abandon the Palestinian people to the mercy of the Zionist violence; objectively support the criminal policy of Israel and demonstrate the hypocrisy that characterizes the speeches on the "relaunch of the peace process in the Middle East".

Expressing its solidarity with the Palestinian people and its homage to the victims of Israel's bombing, PCP demands that the Portuguese Government energetically and unequivocally condemn the military attacks against the Palestinian territories and people and demand - from the Israeli authorities and the international organizations in which it participates - their immediate and unconditional end, as well as that of the criminal blockade on the Gaza Strip.

NEWS RELEASE

Workers’ Party Comment On Situation In Gaza

The International Committee of the Workers’ Party of Ireland condemns the current barbaric aggression of the Israeli government against the people of Gaza which has resulted to date in at least 280 Palestinians dead and more than 700 injured. This terrorist act follows a sustained blockade which attempts to starve the people of Gaza into submission.

Earlier this year Palestinians remembered the 60th anniversary of the massacre at the village of Deir Yassin, where the Irgun, a group of Zionist terrorists led by Menachem Begin, murdered some 300 Palestinian villagers, including women and children. This was a deliberate and planned operation designed to terrorise the indigenous Arab population and ethnically cleanse them from their lands. This current aggression involving an attempt at the economic strangulation of Gaza coupled with the physical terrorisation of the Palestinian civilian population has a long historical precedent as a calculated strategy from Deir Yassin, the systematic destruction of Palestinian refugee camps, the terror bombing of Beirut and the massacres at Sabra and Chatila.

Since 1968 the United Nations has documented repeated violations of human rights in the Occupied territories including occupation, annexation of territory, the illegal building of Jewish settlements, the deportation and expulsion of Palestinians, the confiscation and destruction of property including the demolition of Palestinian homes and agricultural land as collective punishment, the exploitation of Palestinian labour, mass arrests and administrative detention without trial, ill-treatment and torture of persons under detention, censorship, the violent suppression of demonstrations and protests, military attacks on political organisations and the strangulation of the economy of the Occupied territories.

The wide-scale Israeli military operations against Palestinian civilians continue in violation of international and humanitarian law. The Occupied Territories are under siege. Palestinian civilians, including children, are killed virtually on a daily basis. Civilians are deliberately targeted. All border crossings of the Gaza Strip have been closed and the total siege imposed has had disastrous social, economic and humanitarian consequences. Severe restrictions have been placed on the movement of the civilian population. The entry of food, fuel and raw materials has been restricted. Even access to water is severely restricted and drinking water has become unsafe. The Israeli occupation perpetuates the suffering of the Palestinians who are experiencing a humanitarian crisis.

The Workers’ Party of Ireland condemns the current Israeli aggression as a criminal act. It is indiscriminate, disproportionate and a violation of international law. This is a time for action by governments. This Israeli aggression must be condemned and real sanctions imposed. The Workers’ Party believes that a solution is only possible through the recognition of the legitimate and inalienable rights of the Palestinian people to self-determination, national independence and sovereignty and the implementation of international law and respect for all relevant United Nations’ resolutions.

CP of Luxembourg, Declaration of KPL on Gaza [En., Ge.]

Communist Party of Luxembourg, Monday, December 29, 2008

http://www.kp-l.org , mailto:kpl@zlv.lu

Stop the Israeli massacres now!

Luxembourg communists condemn Israeli state terrorism

The Communist Party of Luxembourg decisively condemns the criminal attacks of the Israeli state against the Palestinian people in the Gaza strip. Air raids with more than 100 tons of bombs within a few hours against defenceless people, more than 280 dead, more than 600 wounded, and the unveiled announcement of further attacks with armed ground forces are nothing else than state terrorism and contradict to all international law.

Any attempts to motivate these attacks may just support the aggressor and justify the mass murder. The responsible politicians for this massacre, mainly Prime Minister Olmert, War Minister Barak and Foreign Minister Livni must be internationally isolated and must be taken to an independent international court.

The Luxembourg communists declare their solidarity with all victims of the Israeli terror as well as with all people in Palestine, in Israel and in the other countries of the Middle East who are standing up for a just and durable peace.

The Communist Party of Luxembourg expects from Prime Minister Jean-Claude Juncker and from Foreign Minister Jean Asselborn to demand in the UNO, the EU and other appropriate bodies an immediate stop of the attacks and the beginning of serious peace talks.

WPC denounces the murderous Israeli attack against Palestinians in the Gaza

The World Peace Council denounces to the international community the today's murderous military attack of Israel againt Palestine in the Gaza Strip, during which more than 200 Plaestinians lost their lives. This criminal air strike against innocent civilians, against the same Palestinians who are now for weeks under the Israeli siege and blockade, is one more proof for the inhuman and brutal regime of Israel. The war drive policy of Israel is killing the Palestinians in a slowly genocide, fully supported and endorsed by the powerful imperialist forces in the USA and the EU.

The WPC calls upon all peace loving forces in the world to express their protest and condemnation against the Israeli regime, against the injustice which is lasting already 60 years against the Palestinian people.

The WPC underlines the moment of the Israeli aggression, only few weeks before the Parliament elections in Israel, which shows once more the immoral character of the regime which does not hesitate to use hundreds of dead Palestinians for the internal electoral campaign.

The WPC reaffirms its support to the PLO, as the legitimate representative of the Palestinian people to whom we express our firm solidarity and call for unity and resistance against the aggressions. The only just and viable solution can come with the establishment of an independent State of Palestine within the borders of 1967 with East Jerusalem as its capital.

The injustice against Palestine will not last for ever!

The Communist Party of Israel Condemns Deadly Attacks on Gaza and Calls for International Mobilization

The Communist Party of Israel and Hadash (the Democratic Front for Peace and Equality) condemns today’s deadly attack by the Israeli Air Force on the Gaza Strip, which resulted in the killing of over 150 Palestinians. The CPI calls on Communist and Workers parties and social movements throughout the world to mobilize against these Israeli war crimes and demands that the international community implement sanctions against Israel and indict Tzipi Livni, Ehud Barak and other Israeli political and military leadership for these blatant war crimes, committed as part of Israel’s election process.

Today's Israel’s military attack is part of the ongoing siege of the Gaza Strip. Israel is exploiting the last moments of the Bush administration to implement the deadly but ineffective imperialist policy of utilizing military force to effect political change. Demonstrations against the Israeli assault on the Gaza Strip are planned for the Israeli major cities, and demonstrations will be conducted tonight in Tel Aviv, Haifa and Nazareth. Yesterday (Friday), hundreds demonstrators attended a rally in central Tel Aviv to protest the expected Israeli military operation to Palestinian rocket attacks from Gaza.

Communist Party of Israel leading members met in Ramallah with representatives of left-wing Palestinian factions

Communist Party of Israel leading members met in Ramallah with representatives of left-wing Palestinian factions, including the Democratic Front for the Liberation of Palestine, the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine, and the Palestinian People's Party. Militants from the four factions met Thursday (December 25, 2008) in Ramallah to coordinate future steps and to consider ways to strengthen the cooperation between them. The Communist Party of Israel was represented in the meeting by the secretary-general, Mohammed Nafa'h; and the chairman of Hadash, (The Democratic Peace and Equality Front), M.K. Mohammed Barakeh. This is the first time a meeting has been held in which representatives from all four factions were in attendance. "The Palestinian arena is today in desperate need of a progressive, leftist dialogue of unity," Barakeh said.

Last week, Barakeh traveled to the Jordanian capital of Amman where he met with the secretary-general of the DFLP, Nayef Hawatmeh. The Communist Party of Israel leading members recently stated that the talks held with Palestinian left-wing factions are a routine matter. The party has maintained contacts with these groups since the 1970s. "The Communist Party of Israel and Hadash platforms and its fundamental stances are clear and they are expressed everywhere and at every opportunity," a party spokesman said. "Ties with PLO groups have been held uninterruptedly since the 1970s, and all of the factions know the positions taken by the Communist party of Israel as a political Jewish-Arab organization that espouses a two-state solution with the struggle against capitalism and imperialism".

CP of India (M), PB on air strike by Israeli government

MarxistIndia Sunday, December 28, 2008

http://www.cpim.org , mailto:marxistindia@cpim.org

The Polit Bureau of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) has issued the following statement:

The savage and horrific wave of air strikes by the Israeli Government on the densely populated Gaza strip leading to the killing of over 200 Palestinians, one third of whom are reportedly women and children and causing severe injuries to hundreds more, once again exposes the state terrorism indulged in by Israel. This attack comes on top of the siege of Gaza by the Israeli armed forces. The Israeli government has been oblivious to all the calls for stopping its policies of colonial repression in Gaza and the West Bank. Israel is emboldened in its aggression by the backing it receives from the United States.

The United Nations, if it is to have any credibility at all, must immediately take all steps to halt the Israeli attacks and protect and defend the rights of the Palestinian people.

The CPI(M) demands that the Manmohan Singh Government come out strongly against the Israeli Government for this massacre. Its shameful policy of promoting security and military collaboration with the Israeli State even while Israel continues its occupation and war against the Palestinians will harm India's image among the countries of West Asia and damage India's own interests. The CPI(M) reiterates its demand that the Congress-led Government cease its security and military ties with Israel.
