FM Spokesman Refutes Anti-DPRK "Resolution" at UN

Pyongyang, March 29 (KCNA) -- A spokesman for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the DPRK gave the following answer to a question raised by KCNA on Monday as regards the adoption of an anti-DPRK "resolution" at the meeting of the UN Human Rights Council:

The 13th meeting of the UN Human Rights Council high-handedly adopted an anti-DPRK "resolution" keynote of which is to extend the term of the "special rapporteur" on human rights issue in the DPRK.

Just like the "resolution" adopted last year, the above-said resolution is peppered with distortions and fabrications and it is a product of a politically motivated plot of the U.S. and Japan to get the system in the DPRK degenerate and destabilize it under the signboard of protecting human rights. EU played the role of a midwife this time, too, after choosing the road of confrontation with the DPRK, denying dialogue and cooperation over the human rights issue and following the forces hostile to it.

As already clarified, the DPRK has never recognized the anti-DPRK "resolutions" which have been adopted high-handedly every year since 2003 and the "special rapporteurs" appointed according to them but categorically rejected them.

The "special rapporteur" being applied to some anti-U.S. and independent countries only is a leftover typical of selectivity and double standards disregarding impartiality and objectivity in dealing with human rights.

The Universal Periodic Review which deals with all the UN member nations on the basis of equality has displayed its vitality since its establishment and it is, therefore, an anachronistic action and a blatant challenge to this review to insist on the "special rapporteur" still today.

It is nothing but a daydream to bring about changes in the DPRK by means of confrontation and pressure.

The DPRK will smash the hostile forces' moves for hatching plots against the DPRK over the human rights issue and further reinforce the system for ensuring human rights under socialism chosen by its people themselves.
