To: To the Delegates of the 24th Central Convention of the Young Communist League of Canada. March 23, 24, 25, 2007
252 Bloor Street West
Toronto Ontario,
Dear Comrades
The members and supporters of Canadians for Peace and Socialism extend warm comradely greetings to the delegates attending the 24th Central Convention of the Young Communist League of Canada.
You meet in tumultuous times. Prime Minister Harper and the corporate interests he represents, offers nothing to the youth except war, environmental degradation, drugs, racism, barren consumerism, dead end jobs and chronic unemployment. Canadian youth; workers, farmers, students, the unemployed, youth from all provinces and Quebec, First Nations youth, reserve and urban Aboriginal youth, Métis and Inuit youth, youth from all corners of the globe who have come to Canada for a better life, all strive for something better than what is offered by the Harper Conservatives. The youth have a different vision, a vision of a life with a purpose, a future of peace, meaningful creative work, education, gender and racial equality, culture and happiness.
The Young Communist League, in close fraternal association with the Communist Party of Canada and the International Communist Movement, join together with all youth who are fighting for peace and progress and brings to those struggles the liberating program and ideas of working class internationalism and the science of Marxism-Leninism.
Your Convention continues the fighting traditions of 85 years of organized Communist activity in Canada in which the YCL has written many heroic chapters. Your deliberations are indispensable; critical, to the success of the struggles of all Canadian young people. We are confident that you will succeed in your work and begin to add new chapters in the struggle of the working class for the independent economic development of our country free of U.S. imperialist interference, for a lasting Peace and for Socialism.
Comradely Greetings
Don Currie, Chair
