Fidel Castro message to the opening
ceremony of the 17th WFDY Conference
December
14th, 2010
Comrades:
It is a great pleasure and honour for
me to agree to the request that you made for me to send a message to the
17th World Festival of Youth and Students that is taking place in the
Homeland of Nelson Mandela, the living symbol of the struggle against
the odious apartheid system.
Cuba hosted two world festivals: the
11th in 1978 and the 14th in 1997.
For the first time, the Festival
ceased to be held in Europe and took place in a country in this
hemisphere.
The decision was made by the 9th
Assembly of the World Federation of Democratic Youth which was held in
Varna, Bulgaria at the end of 1974.
Those were different times: the world
was facing serious problems, but ones that were less dramatic. The more
progressive youth was fighting for the right of all human beings to a
decent life; the old dream of the greatest thinkers of our species when
it was clear that science, technology, the productivity of labour and
the development of consciousness was making it possible.

CPS Statement on 12th International Meeting of
Communist and Workers Parties
November 28, 2010
Dear Comrades and Friends
The theme of the December 3-5th 12th
International Meeting of Communist and Workers Parties (IMCWP) is “The
deepening systemic crisis of capitalism. The tasks of the Communists in
the defence of sovereignty, deepening social alliances, strengthening
the anti-imperialist front in the struggle for peace, progress and
socialism” sums up the objective reality of the present time and the
tasks of our international movement now and into the future.
The theme adopted by the IMCWP imposes on
every member and supporter of CPS and CPC without exception, the duty to
soberly consider its meaning for our country.
If such analytical work is undertaken
unconditionally and with vigour it can be a decisive step forward for
the Communist Party of Canada and all of the progressive forces that
provide support thereby strengthening all of the movements of the
people.

FM Spokesman Warns US of Serious
Consequences of Worst Situation
A spokesman for the DPRK Ministry of
Foreign Affairs released the following statement on December 17,2010 as
regards the touch-and-go situation prevailing on the Korean Peninsula
due to such projected military provocation of the south Korean puppet
forces as planning to conduct again shelling from Yonphyong Island under
the instigation of the U.S.:
Lurking behind the plan of the U.S. and
the south Korean puppet forces to persistently conduct shelling from
Yonphyong Island, the most sensitive dispute-torn area, is a sinister
design to preserve the "northern limit line" and ignite a war at any
cost.
By origin, this line was an illegal
product as it was in violation of the Korean Armistice Agreement and all
military moves of the south Korean puppet forces to defend it are gross
violation of the AA.
